Calling all Karaoke lovers! it’s that time of year again!

The beloved JAS Karaoke Contest marks its 21st anniversary this year! The Grand Final is scheduled for 12 Sep (Sat), and we will accepting entries!

This iconic event has been a part of the Japanese Association’s cultural tradition for two decades, offering countless moving performances and unforgettable stories. The contest traces its roots back to “NHK Nodo Jiman in Singapore,” held in November 2003. In honor of that special occasion, NHK presented a trophy, which was passed on to the JAS Recreation Committee. Thus began the Karaoke Contest. Will you be part of this legacy? Please note: Former winners are eligible to re-enter only if three contests have passed since their win (Winners prior to the 17th tournament in 2020). Only those who pass the preliminary round will move on to the Grand Final. We will be awarding prizes for 1st to 5th place, along with special awards. All other finalists will receive participation prizes. Whether you’re performing solo, as part of a group, or with backup dancers – all styles and performances are welcome! Including your costume, express your unique style and move the audience’s hearts.　 We look forward to your application!

Date and Time : Audition (scheduled date) : 15 Aug (Sat) 15:00～17:00

Final Contest (scheduled date) : 12 Sep (Sat) 15:00～17:00

Venue : JAS Auditorium (3F) (for both Audition and Final Contest)

Song selection : Japanese songs (lyrics memorized)

Judging criteria: Vocal ability / Costume / Performance

Entry Requirements: Open to JAS members aged 15 and above (junior high school students not eligible). Non-members who love Japanese songs are also welcome to join.

Prizes : Champion ~ 5th place, as well as special prizes.
