We are pleased to inform you of the "Ehime Tai-meshi (Sea Bream Rice) Fair" at Akane Restaurant.

Ehime Prefecture is blessed with rich nature and climate including the Seto Inland Sea, the Uwakai Sea and the Shikoku Mountains and has many attractive foods and specialties. One of the most famous local dish of Ehime is “Tai-meshi”, Sea Bream Rice.  Of the two types of tai-meshi, you can enjoy "Uwajima Tai-meshi" using fresh sea bream grown and landed in the Uwakai Sea.

“Uwajima Tai-meshi” was born from a fisherman's meal that is said to have been invented by the naval forces based on Hiburi Island. It is said that the dish originated from a fisherman's meal, where the fisherman served rice in a bowl of rice with the leftover sake, topped with the sashimi in soy sauce, mixed together and then ate. The fresh sea bream sashimi is dipped in a special sauce and the sauce is then poured over hot rice and stirred vigorously.

We are using the special sauce made by the long-established restaurant, Kadoya which has been in business for 68 years and very famous for sea bream rice.
