The 17th JAS Karaoke Contest was held at the Japanese Association Auditorium (3F) on 19th November 2022 (Sat) for the first time in three years as one of the open house program. For the past two years, during which we were not able to organize this event due to Covid-19, a lot of people had been awaiting for JAS Karaoke Contest. JAS Recreation Committee has been organizing this event since 2004 to commemorate the karaoke contest “NHK Nodo Jiman in Singapore”, to which the trophy was donated by NHK, held in 2003. This year, 40 groups, 18 of which advanced to the finals, entered for this contest and gave us their wonderful performances. With Ms Jaynet Nomura of the Karaoke Group as MC, many audiences participated in this event enjoyed the performances by Hula Dance Group, Japanese Folk Dance Group, Japanese Drum Group as well as Mr Daisuke Nakagawa, the champion from the previous contest, flew all the way from Japan just for this year’s contest.
