ーJAS Open House Comm and Charity Bazaar/Draw Commー
1
On 19 November (Sat), the JAS Open House and Charity Bazaar/Draw were held at the Japanese Association. Due to COVID-19, the event could not be held in 2020 and 2021. Finally, government regulations were relaxed and this year we were able to hold the event for the first time in three years!
We welcomed the distinguished guest Mr & Mrs Chew Sutat (Chairman of Community Chest Singapore) and Ambassador Mr Ishikawa, as well as many members and non-members visited the event.
The annual tea ceremony, koto (Japanese stringed instrument), picture-story telling, Igo (Japanese board game), origami, erhu (Chinese violin), and mini-bridge experience were held by the Japanese Association’s group.
At the traditional games corner, many parents and children enjoyed playing Koma, Kendama, and Ohajiki, and the Teletubbies game was very popular with the children.
The booths displayed and sold tree nuts & accessories, and offered a variety of other bargain items such as food and daily necessities. Donations from vendors will be incorporated into the proceeds of the Social Service Support Committee and will be donated to support special needs facilities in Singapore.
This year, Charity Bazaar received support from 21 companies, organizations and 9 individuals who generously contributed vouchers and handmade products.
We also received many donations for the Box of Hope (collection box for new goods) located on the first floor of the clubhouse, and a wide variety of items were displayed at the bazaar. The bazaar was a great success with the help of 44 volunteers.
The Charity Draw was held in the Auditorium for the first part (1st to 10th places) and in the Sakura Room for the second part (11th to 205th places).
A “Surprise Draw” was also held exclusively for audiences, and it was truly an exciting moment for everyone in the Auditorium!
A Karaoke contest was also held in the evening. The 18 contestants who passed the preliminary rounds sang their hearts out in a lively contest.
We wish to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to all who attended and contributed to this event.
