1月9日（土）日本人会館アトリウム（1F ）にて、会友部主催によるもちつき大会が開催されました。杉野事務 局長による挨拶と「絵本と紙芝居の会」の眞田さんによる新年に相応しい手遊びが行われ、三本締めでオープニングセレモニーは閉じられました。 いよいよもちつきが始まり、アトリウムはもちつきを待つ子供たちとその親 御さんたちでいっぱいでした。つきたてのおもちで、きな粉もち、大福もち、大根おろしもち、ゴマもち、納豆餅など が作られ、会場はもちを買う人たちの列ができるほど大盛況でした。 新潟県柏崎市の越後研究会から40kgのもち米をご提供いただき感謝申し上げます。またご来場くださいました多くの方々、大会を支えて下さいました多くのボランティアの方々のご尽力に会友部一同、心より御礼申し上げます。また来年のお越しをお待ちしております。

Mochitsuki Party organised by Associate Committee was held on 9 January (Sat) at the Association’s Atrium. The party began with New Year greetings from Mr Sugino, Secretary- General. Participants then join in the “Sanbon-jime” and hand clapping games led by Mrs Sanada of the JAS Picture Story-telling group before the long-awaited mochi pounding finally started! The atrium was filled with children who were ready to experience mochi pounding and daddies and mummies who were there to capture their children’s pounding mochi with their cameras. Everyone enjoyed freshly made mochi of a wide variety such as kinako (bean powder), red bean paste, raddish, sesame and Natto (fermented beans) etc. The organiser wishes to thank Echigoya Kenkyuu Kai from Niigata prefecture, Kashiwazaki city for the kind sponsorship of 40 kg of high quality mochi rice. A big thank you also goes out to all participants for the great support and the volunteers for their wonderful assistance in making this event a tremendous success! We hope to see you all again next year.
