5月2日(月・祝)、ボールルームにおいて裏千家シンガポール協会・留香茶芸共催、日本人会・ガーデンシティ・ロータリークラブ後援、源吉兆庵協賛による「東日本大震災　チャリティ茶会」が開催されました。式典では杉野事務局長へ義援金進呈および四川省の伝統芸能である川劇「変瞼」や四長口壺の工夫茶芸のデモンストレーションが披露されました。

　お茶席では、裏千家による茶箱点前(薄茶)と留香茶芸による濃茶・薄茶の三席にて、それぞれのお点前が披露されました。震災を支援してくださっている皆様にいつか和やかで明るい日本になりますようにと、お茶がふるまわれました。

　また、体験コーナーでは実際にお抹茶を点てたり、袱紗捌きをしたり、四川省の長口壺を体験するなど、普段触れることのできない茶道や中国茶芸を楽しみました。

　チケット代・義援金は日本人会を通じシンガポール赤十字に寄付されました。一碗を通じ、心の平安が一日も早く訪れることをお祈り申し上げます。

It was great pleasure for us, Chado Urasenke Tankokai Singapore Association and Liu Xiang Teacraft, to co-host the East Japan Earthquake Charity Tea Gathering in the Ballroom on 2 May, 2011. We would like to express our gratitude to all the guests for joining us, and their contribution. We also thank the Garden City Rotary Club and Minamoto Kichoan for their sponsorship and cooperation. In the opening ceremony, we presented monetary donation to Mr Sugino, following Sichuan traditional performing arts, Bian Lian, the face-changing dance, and the long spout teapot tea-pouring performance.

 In the tea offering area, three different styles of tea ceremonies were carried out -- Chabako-temae (Tea Utensils in a Box) by Urasenke, Chinese thick and thin tea by Liu Xiang Teacraft. We served tea to our guests, hoping genial and cheerful Japan to be restored soon.

 Furthermore, many of our guests enjoyed learning how to fold Fukusa, wisk the powdered tea and pour tea from a teapot with a long spout in the experience corner.

 The full proceeds from sale of tickets were donated to the Singapore Red Cross through Japanese association secretariat. We are willing to endeavour to assist Japan through a bowl of tea to recover from the devastation, and cordially wish all the survivors to have inner peace without further delay.
