Summer Festival Open House Sports Festival Chingay

As part of the Chinese New Year celebration, the 40th Chingay Parade was held over 2 days on 3 Feb (Fri) & 4 Feb (Sat) at the Formula One Pit Building at Marina Bay. This annual parade featuring over 50 contingents and it is the 10th year that Japanese Association had been participated in.
To usher the Chinese Year of Water Dragon, this year’s parade took place in a long waterway which had been specially constructed behind the F1 Pit Building; where performers would literally make a splash with their performances. The whole area was transformed into an illuminating and magical platform right before the audience.
The Japanese Association took part in the parade with a team of about 400 people. The float and Omikoshi was decorated with drawings of nebuta festival and kantou festival, to commemorate the great Touhoku earthquake and tsunami occurred in March last year and to extend our wishes to the region’s reconstruction.
This year’s music “Ue O Muite Aruko” was composed by Mr Micky, and sang by Mr Micky, Ms Harumi and Ms Kazumi. The dance choreography and costumes were mainly in-charged by Mrs Koike from Keiko Dancing Mates. Dancers dressed in happi and yukata, performers waving big uchiwa fans put up a great performance dancing to the music. The Omikoshi performance from JAS president Mr Yasuno; vice-presidents Mr Itoh, Mr Okura and Mr Nakamura; organising chairman Mr Nagashima; Mr Yamane; Mitsubishi Corporation and NYK group was loudly cheered by the crowed. The performance from Tenko group also added Japanese mood to the parade.
